I did have a specific costume I made for Halloween, but this is the first time I've made something in the year that was suitable for a Halloween costume.
I made a new belt in black (the original was the same silk as the gown) and I always prefer a contrast, so I kind of prefer this new belt. It's made out of a poly duchess satin backed with black cotton voile. For some reason on the day I actually put it on the wrong way, so the matte voile is on the outside. The benefits of black fabric I suppose (and bag lining).
I also unpicked the watteu pleats about an inch, but I think I ironed them down too well because it didn't really change the look a lot, it still acted as though it was stitched down. Perhaps time will loosen them a bit but I'll have to wait and see.
Yes, I, an adult women whose age no longer begins with twenty died my hair red solely for this costume (turns out the wrong shade of red, but that's completely my fault), which didn't take too well to curling it. The red hair scarf is a sash I made from the remnants of a red voile I made a regency day gown many, many years ago (and that went to a new home a few years ago). I don't think I've ever actually used it as a sash though, but it lives with the sashes. The horns, earrings, and necklace were all bought from shops on Etsy.
Thanks! See you in Hell. |
Don't mind me, I'm not waiting to trick people into giving me their souls...I swear... |
