A regency cross-over gown

Another short post about a project I did in 2017 but forgot to blog about. I think I may have teased it in another post way back when, but forgot to give it a post of its own.

This is a regency cross-over gown in the most fantastically bright red cotton voile. My inspiration for this gown was the one Jemma Coleman wore in Death Comes to Pemberley

I'm not the biggest fan of the empire waist because on me, who is pretty pear shaped, it's not flattering at all. I look pregnant most of the time, hence I've stayed away from it for the last year or so.

There are a few problems. One of the sleeves at the forearm is a bit tight, and I didn't line the bodice, and have a non-bodiced petticoat on, so you can see the white of my stays and chemise underneath. Other than that, it's not bad...apart from not suiting me that is.....

Wearing this again for the first time in a few years ahs also made me want to try making a full-length regency corded corset (I have a short one on under there and it does n.o.t.h.i.n.g but make me look pregnant). But cording, and all those mock-ups.....maybe later.
